Artwork by Alexandra Strong

My paintings are a reflection of my connection to our local landscape. I am always drawing inspiration from the lush rolling hills with secret caves and the vast beaches with their intricate rock pools and delicate lace like patterns.

I am also inspired our region from interesting angles, up close, from the air and under water. I aim to evoke a feeling of wonder in all that is the natural beauty of the South Coast.

As a self-taught painter, I have developed my practice over time. As a young girl surrounded by creative folk and watching my mother paint, I have evolved my layering techniques continually adding new creatures here and there and expressing myself through colour. My work tells a story through the use of layers and textures with the viewer discovering hidden characters, maps and paths in the paintings over time.
