Artwork by Bonnie Porter Greene

OPENING EVENT: Wednesday 8th May, 6pm-8pm. All Welcome. This exhibition is open four days ONLY! Thursday 9th – Sunday 12th May.

Drawn to beauty in the everyday, found type, the decaying, forgotten and unnoticed places, Bonnie Porter Greene has sought to express her love of these visual delights in this exhibition, ALL THE WALLS.

Her love of those imperfect walls that we walk past without a second glance is evident in these works – those walls where someone has fixed a hole and attached another incompatible material over top, a fence that’s made of four different types of corrugated iron, a section of painted over graffiti in the wrong shade (or shades) of Council grey, or a patch where the neighbouring building once stood. In her mind, they are all ready made abstract paintings waiting for someone to notice them.

Selecting colours from existing walls that have caught her eye, recreating in the studio, and other times making colour choices on the palette, mixing until it feels right. Primarily painting on board (as canvas doesn’t offer the same firmness and support that board does with her energetic marks), Bonnie has stepped out of her comfort zone in this exhibition, with several larger works on canvas allowing a shift in her usual mark making.

“This exhibition is my love letter to those walls – you’re more beautiful than you realise!”

A creative living on South Coast of NSW, this is Bonnie’s first solo show at Fern Street Gallery.

I would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which I create and exhibit my work. I pay my respects to elders past, present and future. I recognise and respect their cultural heritage, beliefs and relationship with the land, which continue to be important to the Yuin Nation peoples living today.

The exhibition is open FOUR DAYS ONLY: Thursday 9th May through to Sunday 12th May.

Sunday is Mother’s Day – make a day of it and come to Gerringong for the day, have a nice lunch out at one of the many great cafes and then come and see the exhibition.

Opening night, Wednesday 8th May, 6pm-8pm. All Welcome.
